Port St. Joe
Cape San Blas | The Forgotten Coast
This historic coastal town on St. Joseph’s Bay is all about the water. The bay itself is ranked as one of the best snorkeling venues on the Gulf Coast. What makes it so great? The shallow, clear and protected waters, along with the fantastic and abundant beds of scallops that populate the seafloor. Grab your mask and fins and set off for a scalloping adventure! The town is also home to a fishing charter fleet, allowing you and your party to take off to explore and fish the inshore waterways with the supervision of a guide. They also offer offshore charters where you can fish for all manner of game fish, including mahi-mahi, redfish, grouper, and tarpon.
Port St. Joe is also a wonderful venue for music, as it plays host to a number of festivals throughout the year, including the last on the Bay Songwriters Festival, a must-see event for music lovers. Great restaurants abound. From the Krazy Fish Grille to Joe Mama’s Wood Fired Kitchen to the Sand Dollar Café, you’ll enjoy the best local seafood and Southern fare in the Panhandle! The town also serves as a great home base from which to explore the local area. Take a day trip to Apalachicola, which is just 23 miles west on Scenic Highway 30A, or cruise on down to Cape San Blas, which is only minutes away. Both destinations offer fun for the whole family—and some of the finest oysters and scallops in the world!
